Rakhi Dandona

Rakhi Dandona is a public health specialist with a dual appointment at the Public Health Foundation of India, Gurugram, India, and at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, University of Washington, Seattle, USA. Prof. Dandona has over two decades of experience in population level epidemiology on disease burden and risk factor distribution and in health system studies in India. Perinatal health and injuries are her major research interests, with focus on epidemiology and broader determinants of neonatal mortality and stillbirths, mental health dimensions of perinatal mortality, and improving the quality of available data in developing country settings for action. She has published widely with over 300 publications; and is on the Editorial Advisory Boards of the Lancet Psychiatry, Lancet Public Health, and Injury Prevention. Dr. Dandona is a member of the WHO Task force on cause of death, WHO’s Child Health Accountability Tracking Technical Advisory Group, and NIH-Gates Foundation Innovation Equity Forum Mapping global opportunities in women’s health R&D.
